21st Century Author – How To Connect With the Publishing Industry & Build an Audience!

6 07 2014

Simon Wood, a mystery and thriller author who has sold 500,000 e-books since 2011, will headline an Aug. 9 event at Bellevue College: “The 21st Century Author: How to Connect With the Publishing Industry and Build an Audience.”

The event will reveal the techniques that have served Wood well in more than a decade of work as an author who’s been both traditionally and independently published. It’s aimed at authors in any genre who are struggling to find readers and attract agents in a time of rapid change in the book-publishing industry.

“Publishing is both a business and a craft, and the authors who’ll thrive will be the ones who embrace the business side as well as the craft,” said Wood, 46, a Bay Area resident whose next thriller title is THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY, to be published by Thomas & Mercer, Amazon’s crime-fiction imprint.

Details: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, at Bellevue College’s Paccar Auditorium. A box lunch is included.

Cost: If you register before July 26, the cost is $50 for MWA members and $60 for non-members. After July 26, the cost for everyone is $75.
