Our own Christine Cook (who writes under the name of “Lou Kemp”), whose short story “Sherlock’s Opera” was recently included in the Curt Colbert-edited SEATTLE NOIR (Akashic Books) is really on a roll short story-wise. Celebrated mystery/spec fiction crossover author Charlaine Harris, editor of MWA’s 2010 Anthology (tentatively entitled *Blood Lust*, and available from Tekno Books in April, 2010) has tapped another of Lou’s short stories for inclusion in this anthology as well!
A description of the story from Lou herself:
“The story is called, In Memory of the Sibylline and it is set at sea in the early 1800′s. Probably the best way to describe the story is to say that the protagonist would test your definition of good and evil. He murders, yet he saves, and he has a unique sense of morality. The galleys arrived today from the publisher. I haven’t seen so much red ink since I ran over a fountain pen in my driveway.”
Won’t you please join me in congratulating Olympia author Lou Kemp on the major coup!
congratulations – the competition is stiffer all the time for short stories
glad to see you doing so well
